METHODE
Like
his great predecessors, Wasili uses limewood panels. He is innovative in
the way he incorporates the structure of the wood as a natural element
in the picture. Not only the natural shapes, such as knots and bark, are
part of his representations, but also the saw marks. For the composition
of the picture he uses traditional materials, such as fish glue,
powdered chalk, pigment, tempera, oil paint and gold leaf. Wasili
Wasin's work is characterized by the many layers of varnish that give
his work an unusual radiance.
